Nest Collaborative | Weekly Source: Amanda Gorman

Recently on the Weekly Source, we interviewed Amanda Gorman, Chief Clinical Officer and Founder of Nest Collaborative. They are a Telehealth solution that specializes in preventative prenatal and postpartum lactation.

Amanda explains, “For the first time in decades we are seeing almost 90% of delivering moms trying to breastfeed. Two thirds of those moms are not able to make it to the minimum recommendation of breastfeeding for 6 months.” Affordability, integration into the medical field, availability to families and timing appear as the largest barriers for moms to get the support they need.

HR leaders might wonder how breastfeeding affects their business. Well, Amanda breaks down that “Employers are seeing increased costs not only with non-medical implications like when families are unsuccessful in breastfeeding but also medical implications with increased chances of moms having longer hospital stays and a greater risk of readmission of her or the baby. This can lead to turnover, retention or absenteeism.”

PlanSource is proud to have Nest Collaborative as part of our Partner Marketplace! Discover how they break barriers for families and more.
